Q&A: whats it the best choice? help me decide ok?

Question by ramses: whats it the best choice? help me decide ok?

i bought a canon rebel t2i a few months ago, i will take a course of photography this spring, because i can only use automatic mode for now, but i find it too bulky to carry it everywhere, and i’m on the market for a more “compact” camera.
my favorite choice is:
canon powershot g12, 10mp ,5x zoom metal body 720p video, sdxc (support for cards of 32gb or more).
or the g10 older model but 14mp,NO hd video, no support for much bigger cards, and is a older model on the same body as the other.

here is a link to the website so you can see the picture and more info.

i had read many reviews for the g12, and i am almost convinced for it, but at $ 500, what do you think? is is a good choice, besides i love the look of the camera and i always had liked canon.
is a little bulky too but it still fits in my hand and my jacket pocket, i don’t want a pocket camera because i have on already (on my phone)

i really am into photography but the thing is that i would like to have a nice camera on me all the the time , of course the dslr will be with me too but there are places where you just can’t take a big camera with you right.
`so any one with knowledge with great advice please help me.

ps, please do not recommend other cameras, i just want to know if is a good choice this particular model taking in to consideration the specs on it.

Canon S95. It is the same size as a compact point and shoot but has a larger than average sensor and full manual controls when you need them.

    Ramses,

You can go a bit more compact than the Canon G12 and save yourself close to $ 200 (depending on where you buy & under what promos) by getting the Canon S95. For a serious shooter, who wants a compact camera, it is very high quality, lets you shoot all the usual priority modes, manual and raw or jpg/raw, has a built-in HDR function (beyond the usual AEB) and all the EC & metering functions you have on your T2i + the HD video too. Get yourself a lightwt. tripod to go with it and you’ll be golden.

    Check it out.

Good luck! Enjoy your hobby. Happy shooting.
